11 June 2024: Our Last Full Day in Paris
Lunch at La Laiterie Sainte Clotilde
Tomorrow we catch a taxi at 5:00 am to get to Orly airport for our early flight to Berlin. Early to bed, early to rise.
For the afternoon, we’d booked to go the Musée de la Musique at the Cité de la Musique (see next post).
The morning we devoted to cleaning the Cameron apartment. As a reward, we decided to lash out on lunch at La Laiterie Sainte Clotilde. It’s on the way to the museum.
As this was a fantastic meal and some of you have asked for more about food, I took some photos to share.

Love their card. Very classy.

Back of the card (enlarged)
La Laiterie is French for The Dairy.
Sainte Clotilde was the wife of Clovis I, the King of the Franks, and played a crucial role in the conversion of Clovis to Christianity around the end of the 5th century. The Basilica of Saint Clotilde is nearby the restaurant.
The evocative naming doesn’t end there.
La Laiterie is on Rue de Bellechasse (‘beautiful hunt’ or ‘beautiful pursuit’). This street is an extension of Rue Vaneau, the address of the Cameron apartment (same street, new name).
So we had lunch just down the road from where we were staying!
This is one of those first class, small restaurants you find dotted around Paris (if you avoid the tourist areas). A bit more formal than a brasserie and very popular with the local lunch crowd.

We’d checked it out a few days before.

The ‘street’ tables a few days before.
The tables are small because the space is small. It was raining and the outside tables were not set up. We hadn’t booked, so they sat us at the counter. Somehow this made the experience feel even more intimate.
The Menu

Daily Specials
We ended up each choosing the same dishes from the daily specials board.
Because of the state of the Aussie dollar, they weren’t cheap but they were absolutely delicious.
And they all looked great on the plate.
Entrée du jour

Asperges blanches
(white asparagus)
$29
Poisson du jour

Filet de dourade, haricots verts
(fillet of sea bream, green beans)
$48
Dessert du jour

Crumble, crèmeux citron framboises
(crumble, creamy lemon, raspberries)
$19

It was all so good.
Coffee

Café noir et canalé
The canalé was homemade and came with the coffee. It was soft on the inside with a caramelised crust and tasted of vanilla. A perfect combination.
